Funeral services for Bob Hutson, 85, of Converse, formerly of Diboll, will be held Monday, June 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Corrigan with Reverend Brant Graham officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Apple Springs under the auspices of the Burke Masonic Lodge #833 A.F. & A.M.
Mr. Hutson was born December 30, 1932 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late James Thomas Hutson and Irene Hutson, and died Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in San Antonio.
He was a long-time resident of Diboll. Mr. Hutson quit school at 15 to join the Army; upon discharge he enrolled back into high school and got a diploma. He spent his life doing construction work, did projects throughout the country and overseas. Also, in 2000 he went into teaching for the prison system. Mr. Hutson was an avid golfer and reader. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Corrigan. He was also a Master Mason with the Burke Masonic Lodge #833 A.F. & A.M. and the Randolph Masonic Lodge #1268 A.F. & A.M.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Trish Hutson of Converse; grandchildren, Misty and Jimmy Taylor, Luther and Sam Hutson, Brandall Porter Jr., Jessica and Brad Bradshaw, Heather Holcombe, Nina and Angel Garza, April Rosas, Amanda Clark, Rea-Ann Courtney; great-grandchildren, Britney McGinnis, Kacey Cazlot, Kaitlyn Taylor, Jace Taylor, Madison Villareal, Jacob Garza, Logan Rosas, Maria Garza, Liam Malone; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Alvi Bounds of Houston; daughter-in-law, Colleen Hutson of Round Rock; sister-in-law Nell Hutson of Coldspring; special friend, Charles Landerman; special nephews, Mike Hutson and Jim Hutson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hutson was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Hutson; son, Steve Hutson; daughter, Denise Holcombe; granddaughter, Amanda Porter; brothers, Tillman Hutson and A.L. “Buck” Hutson; sister, Jonnie Denby; and sister-in-law, Mary Hutson.
Pallbearers will be James Johnson, Mason Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Matthew Bounds, Brandall Porter, and Jimmy Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Corrigan, 101 N. Market Street, Suite 2, Corrigan, Texas 75939.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
