Funeral services for Billy Lee Porter, 87, of Huntington will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Huntington First Baptist Church with Pastor Byron Smith and Dr. Darryl Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Oddfellows Cemetery.

Mr. Billy Lee Porter was born October 1, 1938 in Huntington, Texas, the youngest of four boys, to the late Beatrice Belle (McBryde) and Charlie Lee Porter, and died Monday, April 6, 2026 in a local hospice facility.

Billy graduated from Huntington High School in 1956. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana. Billy and Ann Fenley married on August 27, 1960 and were married 65-1/2 years. God blessed them with a daughter and a son. They were deep believers in Jesus as their savior and were very active members of Huntington First Baptist Church. Mr. Porter served there as an active deacon for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Homer Masonic Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M. where he was honored as a 50 year member in 2020. He and his brothers had a combined membership of 150 plus years. Each served as a Worshipful Master. He worked at the Paper Mill in maintenance, retiring after 35 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Ann (Fenley) Porter of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Leigh Anne and Troy Eakin of Lufkin; granddaughters, Brittney Carswell of Huntington, Hannah Eakin of Rowlett; grandson, Taylor Eakin of Huntington; great-grandchildren, Kylar Hannah, Dane Carswell, Sadie Eakin; brother Denny Porter of Homer; brothers-in-law, Paul Fenley, Pate Fenley and wife Linda, all of Lufkin; several nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved; and a bonus son, George Parr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Patrick Michael Porter; sisters-in-law, Shirlene Porter, Judy Fenley; oldest brother, Harold Porter and wife Margie; an infant brother; and an infant grandson.

Pallbearers will be Gary Porter, Steve Porter, Wayne Durham, Kim Reynolds, Danny Cutchshaw, David Jordan, and Nathan Armstrong.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pate Fenley, Paul Fenley, Eric Chandler, Scott Fenley, past and present Deacons of Huntington First Baptist Church and members of the Homer Masonic Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a memorial contribution to the Ann Porter Nursing Scholarship Fund, c/o Huntington ISD, P.O. Box 328, Huntington, Texas 75949.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice in the Pines for their loving care.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
