Billy Edward Lee

A memorial service for Billy Edward Lee (Lufkin Locksmith), 84, of Broaddus will be held Monday, November 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Shane Williams officiating. Mr. Lee was born November 20, 1932 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Edgar Feagin and Elizabeth (Chandler) Lee. He gained his wings October 25, 2017 in Houston.

Since his retirement, Mr. Lee had lived in Broaddus on Lake Sam Rayburn for the past 24 years. He loved to go fishing with friends and enjoyed taking walks around the lake looking for arrowheads. He also enjoyed watching the deer play in his yard. One of his favorite activities was telling jokes and laughing with friends.

In his early years he worked for Coca Cola, Land-O-Pines, Atkinson Candy and the Box Factory. He also worked for the Lufkin Fire Department for 6 years and was a partner in the first two automatic car washes in Lufkin.

In the early 50's he learned the locksmith trade from Mr. Ramseger and started his own locksmith business in 1956. He turned the business over to his son in 1979, but continued to be active in the trade until 2003. He loved to talk to the customers and see old friends.

Mr. Lee is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Angela Lee of Hudson; daughter, Shirley Ann Lee of Humble; grandchildren, Shaun Lee of Austin, Elizabeth Lee of Denver, Colorado, Carrie Lee Connor and husband Mitchel of Lufkin, Mitchell Lee and wife Heatherly of Austin, Randal Runnels and wife Alene of Hudson and Meagan Wheeler and husband Chris of Central; great-grandchildren, Braeden Runnels, Braelyn Wheeler and Emory Runnels; nephew, Michael Wright; and special friends, Sue Walker, Tara Smith, and Gloria Stringer.

Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Lee Ferguson; and special friends, Don Traylor and Larry Walker.
