Graveside services for Bill Slaughter, 71, of Lufkin will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with J.P. Hunter III officiating. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Crown Colony Country Club.
Mr. Slaughter was born July 22, 1947 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Opal Lee (Lum) and John Edmond Slaughter, and died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 in a local hospice facility.
Mr. Slaughter was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and a 1967 graduate of Lufkin High School. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served his country in Vietnam. He was a paint contractor and owned and operated Bill Slaughter Painting. Mr. Slaughter adored his grandchildren and loved being with family and friends. He enjoyed watching westerns such as Gunsmoke and Bonanza. Mr. Slaughter was an avid golfer and played many of the courses in the East Texas area.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Judy (Harrington) Slaughter of Lufkin; son, Ryan Slaughter and wife Brittni of Tyler; daughter, Karen and husband Fernando Granda of Houston; beloved grandchildren, Grayson, Sadie, Tate, and Parks; brother, John Lee Slaughter and wife Pat of Lufkin; sisters, Rachel and husband Scotty Williams, Liz and husband Larry Grimes, all of Georgia; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Slaughter.
