Funeral services for Bill Deaton, 85, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jimmy Hedges officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Deaton was born June 24, 1932 in Waco, Texas to the late Useba Barcelona (Geddie) and Ira William Deaton, and died Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in a local hospice facility.
Mr. Deaton had resided in Lufkin since 1969. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and retired from Champion Paper Mill following 23 years of employment as a computer programmer and analyst. Mr. Deaton enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reloading ammunition, and was currently rebuilding a 1940s Jeep. He had served as Deacon for numerous churches in Texas, most recently at Calvary Baptist Church of Lufkin. He was currently a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
He has left behind, until we shall see him again, his children, Susan and Andy Johnson of Lufkin, Sherri and Steve Dent of Lufkin, David and Kaye Deaton of DeBerry, and Melinda and Larry Brevard of Lufkin; grandchildren, Cory and Kelly Johnson, Angi Tindall, Jessica and Roy Nolan, Dena and Russell Strban, Weldon Dent, Cristy and Justin Woodland, Colly Deaton, Jonathan Deaton, Kyle Deaton, Matthew and Meagan Brevard, Katie and Ryan Lawrence, and Kelli Brevard; great-grandchildren, Jacob Tindall, Drew Tindall, Daniel Espinoza, Lilly Nolan, Olivia Nolan, Deaton Johnson, Parker Johnson, Rylee Lawrence, Carter Lawrence, Sadie Lawrence, Tom Brevard, and Sam Brevard; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and his special pet, Roscoe.
Others who have gone on before him are his parents; wife, Virginia Sue (Doherty) Deaton; brother, Windsor Deaton; and great-grandson, Luis Espinoza.
Pallbearers will be Cory Johnson, Weldon Dent, Matthew Brevard, Colly Deaton, Jonathan Deaton, Kyle Deaton, Russell Strban, Ryan Lawrence, Justin Woodland, and Roy Nolan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Deaton’s great-grandchildren.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
