Betty Louise Preston, 91, of Lufkin died Monday, April 29, 2024 in Lufkin. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Preston was born February 12, 1933 in Rahway, New Jersey to the late Dorthea Henrietta (Moody) and Norman Davis Aumack. She had resided in Lufkin for over 40 years.

Mrs. Preston earned a degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in social work. Her social work was preceded by substitute teaching and working in special education. Prior to this she worked as a model in New York.

Mrs. Preston was active in Love I.N.C., Christian Information and Service Center, St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church, and in the community. She was always helping other people. She loved to shop, paint, and a favorite hobby of hers was fashion design. She had served as President of the Garden Club, Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, and Professional Mom. Her family has fond memories of her commitment to her children, always running them around and caring for them.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Frederick Leigh Preston of Lufkin; children and spouses, Fred, Jr. and Betsy Preston of Arizona, Linda and Gordon Reay of Michigan, Robert and Teresa Preston of Flower Mound, and Rebecca and Pat Darcangel of Canyon Lake; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; brother and sister-in-law, Bryant and Carol Aumack of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bob Aumack.
