Betty S. Petty

Funeral services for Betty S. Petty, 94, of Woodville will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Ms. Petty was born December 6, 1930 in Breckenridge, Texas to the late Georgie Mae (Amason) and Victor Roland Jones, and died Saturday, October 18, 2025 at her residence.

Betty had resided in DeRidder, Louisiana for 24 years prior to moving to Fairfield, Texas. From Fairfield she moved to Woodville, where she spent the last years of her life. She retired as a Purchasing Agent from Beauregard Memorial Hospital in 1992. She was a lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary VFW Post #3619 in DeRidder, Louisiana. Betty was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Ben Murray of Bowie, Glenna and Paul DuBose of Fairfield; son, D.R. Petty of Dayton; grandchildren and their spouses, Canda and Steve Henry, John Cash Carpenter, Misty and Clark Winslow, Buster Sutton; two great-grandchildren, Garrett Morris, Samantha Henry; two great-great-grandchildren, Ryan Morris, Lilly Morris; brother, Andrew Jones of Sherman; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Clinton Paul DuBose; and granddaughter, Misty Michelle DuBose.

The family would like to express special thanks to Olive Branch Hospice and Betty’s sitter, Cathy Freeman, for their loving care.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon prior to the service.
