Mrs. Miller was born March 31, 1926 in Moundsville, West Virginia to the late Sadie Beatrice (Batton) and John William Bromelow, and died Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in Lufkin.

Mrs. Miller had resided in Lufkin most of her life and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lufkin. She was instrumental in starting the Lufkin Community Playhouse, and even wrote a couple of plays. Anyone who knew her understood a few of her joys in life. She loved her English Bulldogs, Joy perfume, and the music she wrote and listened to, which encompassed many genres, most notably jazz and classical and could always be heard in her home. She immensely enjoyed reading, a shot of bourbon, and of course cooking and entertaining family and friends. Her spaghetti dinners became infamous! If you missed out on that, you’ve truly missed out!

Survivors include her sons, John D. “Kip” Miller, Jr. and wife Debbie of Pollok and Glenn William Miller and wife Sharon of Richardson; daughter, LaDonna “Dee” Bailey and husband Keith of Lufkin; grandchildren, Todd Miller and wife Stacie, Carol Durrett and husband Kenneth, Grant Bailey, Brett Bailey, and Lacey Miller; and great-granddaughter, Savannah Krop.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John D. Miller, Sr.; and great-grandson, Brooks Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Warren Hallmark, Caleb Nelson, David McCall, Johnny Moore, and Danny Standley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Winnie Berry Animal Shelter, c/o Humane Society of Angelina County, P.O. Box 472, Lufkin, Texas 75902 or the Monastery of the Infant Jesus, 1501 Lotus Lane, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
