Bertha Williams

Funeral services for Bertha Williams, 84, of Huntington will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother M. H. Shubert officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams was born September 4, 1934 in Huntington, Texas to the late Ethel (Womack) and James M. Golden, and died Sunday, April 28, 2019 in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Williams had resided in Huntington and Fuller Springs most of her life and she worked for ABF Freight Lines for more than 25 years. She loved gardening and especially loved her daylilies. Mrs. Williams was a member of Broaddus Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Howell and husband David of Chester; son, Dennis Williams and wife Christine of Montgomery; grandson, Rodney Allen of Little Rock, Arkansas; sister, Ethelene Powers of Lufkin; brother, James Golden of Huntington; sister-in-law, Dorinda Golden of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David “Pete” Williams; brother, Ray Golden; sister-in-law, Mary Golden; and brother-in-law, D. W. Powers.

Pallbearers will be David Howell, Rodney Allen, Michael Golden, Carl Bing, Greg Gibbs, and Larry Rosas.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Southland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center and Hospice in the Pines for their loving care.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
