Bertha Dean Morish

A memorial visitation for Bertha Dean Morish, 94, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Morish was born November 1, 1931 in Huxford, Alabama to the late Jessie Logusta (Brill) and Thomas Henry Nall, and died Friday, June 26, 2026 in a local facility.

Mrs. Morish worked as a cashier at Randall’s Grocery Store for 10 years and spent the rest of her time caring for her family. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and she especially loved cooking for her family and friends. She loved music and she absolutely loved dancing. Dancing was her passion!

Survivors include her children, David Matthews and wife Sherry of Houston, Mitzi Butera of San Antonio, Cecilia Prentice and husband Rusty of Lufkin, Mike Matthews of Lufkin; sister, Ruth Hines of Florida; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry W. Morish; son, Joe Burkett; grandson, Jodie Burkett; four brothers, David, Kenneth, Gene and Ralph; and one sister, Helen.
