Graveside services for Bennis Berlon Blake, 90, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery with Bennis “Butch” Carnley and Steve McCoy officiating.
Mr. Blake was born May 14, 1931 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Wessie Rosella (Havard) and Elbert Bennis Blake, and died Friday, June 4, 2021 at his residence.
Mr. Blake was a lifelong resident of Lufkin. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a Maintenance Supervisor at Texas Foundries, retiring after 28 years of service. He loved going hunting with his brothers and enjoyed gardening. He had a natural gift and could play just about any instrument, but enjoyed playing his guitar the most. Mr. Blake was a very devoted, caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Arvis Jean (Mitchell) Blake of Lufkin; son, Bennis Dean Blake and wife Doris of Lufkin; daughter, Berlene McCoy and husband Steve of Lufkin; grandsons, Scott Foxworth and wife Sara, Landon McCoy and wife Kim, all of Lufkin; granddaughter, Hollyn Griffith and husband Mark of Virginia; special friend and caregiver, Rebecca Vance; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Berneice Wiesinger and Geraldine Edwards; and brothers, Olen Blake, Carlton Blake, Elton Blake, and Joe Blake.
