Belezaire Jean "John" Mouton

Funeral services with military honors for Belezaire Jean “John” Mouton, 82, of Lufkin will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Guillermo Gabriel-Maisonet officiating. Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. A memorial service and interment of cremains will be held September 20, 2019 in the Mayfield Memory Gardens in Mayfield, Kentucky. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Mouton was born October 20, 1936 in Kaplan, Louisiana to the late Anite David (East) and Ezedor Mouton, and died Monday, April 8, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. He is now resting in the arms of Jesus and with the love of his life, Annie.

John proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 14 years and then served 10 years in the United States Air Force, which he retired from as a TSGT. He served during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1955, the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, Vietnam from 1963-1967. He suffered greatly from the effects of Agent Orange. He was a long-time member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, and American Legion. He enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, boating, square dancing, archery, bowling and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Kim Mouton, Teresa Mouton Phillips and husband Dennis, Paul Mouton and wife Jacquelyn, all of Lufkin, and John Fairfax of California; grandchildren, Katie Mouton Grissom and husband John of Lufkin, Dustin Mouton of Oregon, Megan Phillips of Hempstead, Dylan Mouton of Lufkin, Chyanne Mouton of Lufkin, and Paula Fairfax of California; great-grandchildren, Addyson Mouton, Millie Grissom, John Luke Grissom, and Addy Garcia; three brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Ann Mouton; granddaughter, Joyann Fairfax; and brother, Roland Mouton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Lee, Dennis Phillips, Dustin Mouton, Dylan Mouton, John Grissom, Luke Grissom, and Jake McShan.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
