Barbara Allen Steinmetz

A visitation for Barbara Allen Steinmetz, 77, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Steinmetz was born June 14, 1948 in Jasper, Texas to the late Mary (Pullin) and Caroll Allen, and passed away peacefully Sunday, May 3, 2026 at her residence.

Barbara resided in Lufkin most of her life. She was a Registered Nurse, retiring after 50 years of dedicated service, mostly at Nacogdoches Medical Center. Barbara was loved by many and was a friend to all. She had a special bond with her horse, Roger, and loved her dog, CiCi.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Jeff Steinmetz of Lufkin; daughter, Michelle Herring and husband Duane of Magnolia; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, DeLores Allen; daughters, Jeitonna Harris, Debra Chandler; sister, Christie Pope; and brother, R. David Yammer.
