Barbara Jean Nichols

Funeral services for Barbara Jean Nichols, 83, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Keith Woolf officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.

Mrs. Nichols was born April 4, 1942 in Apple Springs, Texas to the late Estelle (Oliver) and R.T. Due, and died Thursday, August 14, 2025 in a local hospice facility.

Barbara was a loving mother who enjoyed taking care of her family and she was a terrific wife! She loved her dog, Buffy, very much. She enjoyed watching her shows and she was a like a best friend to everyone.

Survivors include her husband, James Nichols of Lufkin; son, Mark Wilson of Lufkin; grandchildren, Jason Nichols, Jeremy Nichols. Jessica Brister, Justin Brister; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, John Due and wife Dorothy of Lufkin; nephews, Johnny Due, Greg Wright; great-nephews, Tyler Due, Bret Due; special friends, Rhonda Walker, Robin Dunn; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sharon Freeman; and nephews, Eddie Due and Bradley Due.

Pallbearers will be Bret Due, Greg Wright, Johnny Due, Tyler Due, Hunter Wright, Tanner Wright, Jason Nichols and Cooper Nichols.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the service.
