Barbara Crane Ivy, age 82, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026 after her courageous battle with numerous illnesses. Those left to cherish her memories are husband, Burl Ivy; daughters, Kathy McGill of Pensacola, Florida and Julia Sellers of Spring, Texas; son, Bill Ivy and wife Rebecca of Montgomery, Texas; sister, Ann Seaman and husband Bob of Crestview, Florida; sister-in-law, Marty Crane of Equality, Alabama; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild “on the way”.
Barbara was born in Millry, Alabama, on September 4, 1943, to the late Willie and Tillie (Cox) Crane. The family lived in Alabama and Florida during her early years, and she graduated from Flomington High School in Flomaton, Alabama. She met her husband of 57 years in Mobile, Alabama in 1968 and later married on January 23, 1969. They lived in various states until he retired from Brown & Root, Inc., on September 11, 2001.
Barbara was a very skilled seamstress. She worked in the Judy Bond Clothing Factory, Wholesale Distribution, and was the Manager of Judy Bond Clothing store in the Springdale Plaza Mall in Mobile, Alabama. Barbara enjoyed being a mother and grandmother and took pride in visiting and talking about her 12 grandchildren. She enjoyed caring for her flowers, especially the roses and varieties of ferns. She dearly loved her little Yorkie ‘Sophie’ who slept with her for almost twelve years. And she had fond memories of her previous Yorkie, “Niki”, whose ashes will be placed in her casket with her.
Barbara is a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church in Evergreen, Texas. She loved the old gospel songs and two of her favorites were ‘Beulah Land’ and ‘Jerico Road’. She was a previous member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas. She really enjoyed the Kingdom Builders Sunday School Class at Denman.
Mrs. Ivy was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Tillie Crane; her brother, Howard Crane; and a grandson, Clint Ivy.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Highway Missionary Baptist Church in Huntington, Texas, with Brother Lamar Denby officiating. She will be buried in the Ivy Cemetery just outside of Huntington, Texas.
Heartfelt thanks to all who have been praying for Barbara, and special thank you to the caring staff and nurses at the Vitas Healthcare and Hospice Facility in The Woodlands, Texas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Ivy, Billy Ivy, Mario Rodrigues, Ted Ivy, Steve Ivy, Billy Davis, David Chavana and Tracy Robles.
