Barbara (Mcclendon) Smithheart Brookshire

Funeral services for Barbara (McClendon) Smithheart Brookshire, 68, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Seth Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Brookshire was born February 9, 1955 in Freeport, Texas to the late Melva Ruth (Burkett) McClendon and Bobby Ross McClendon, and died Friday, February 10, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.

Barbara worked for Barrett Mack, Barrett Brothers, Perry Ellis KIA and Hyundai of Lufkin as the Office Manager for a total of 38 years. She was a valued member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where she served as Church Clerk and  a member of several committees. She was involved in all activities of the church as either a worker or participant. She has left a giant hole in the church family.

Survivors include her son, Joshua Smithheart; grandsons, Craig Smithheart, Issac Crager; sister, Sandra Ortiz and husband Roy; stepchildren and spouses, Leshia Brookshire, Tim and Jerrie Brookshire, Richard and Stephanie Brookshire; grandchildren, Brandon Bonner, Ashton Dillard, Mallori James, Ryan Brookshire, Collin Brookshire, Hannah Brookshire, Holly Newcomb; numerous great-grandchildren; best friend, Kathy McKnight; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Melva McClendon; and husbands, Doug Smithheart and Claude Brookshire.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Barrett, Lance Ortiz, Blake Ortiz, Kirk Harstad, Ryan Brookshire, Mickey Shelley, Scott McDaniel, and Efren Moreno.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Ramsey, Johnny Austin, Jack Dickey, Phillip Morgan and the employees of Hyundai of Lufkin.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
