Funeral services for Barbara Sue Armstrong, 70, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Joel Hitchcock officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Barbara Sue Armstrong was born May 13, 1949 in Zavalla, Texas, a daughter of Jim and Myrtie (Caples) Bentley. She peacefully passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019 in the loving arms of her family.
At age 15, she met the love of her life, Hubert Armstrong. Military love letters turned into 54 years together - building a strong foundation and loving home for their family. Truly, one of a kind love.
Barbara’s world revolved around her family. She was a wonderfully devoted mother to her four children. A best friend for a daughter and three special Mama’s boys.
Barbara was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She was a fierce mama bear and she treasured her children.
She lived a full life as a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She was a strong, determined and fierce woman. Barbara loved holidays and family get-togethers. Any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company. She kept an immaculate house, enjoyed her daily morning coffee with “Daddy” and weekly outings to shop. Her hands were rarely still and she had a passion for decorating. She was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She leaves behind her husband, Hubert Armstrong; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Gary Greening; sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Jaime Armstrong, Mitchell Armstrong, Corey and Sherrill Armstrong. She was a special Nana who loved her grandchildren, Morgan and Bret Due, Hailey, Zoey, and Connor Armstrong, and great-grandchildren, Landon Greer, Karson, Grayson and Kashton Due. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters, Gerald Bentley, Bobby Bentley, Katie Clayton, Joyce Colburn, and Judy Yates; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Myrtie Bentley; brothers, Anthony Bentley, George Bentley, Edward Bentley, James Bentley, David Bentley and Kenneth Bentley; sisters, Opal Smith and Jessie Thompson; and grandson, Christopher Greer.
Pallbearers will be Eric Armstrong, Mitchell Armstrong, Corey Armstrong, Bret Due, Mark Bentley and Patrick Bentley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Connor Armstrong, Landon Greer, Karson Due and Grayson Due.
