Born into the arms of Jesus on October 15, 2025.

With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce that August David Rhodes, beloved son of Journey and Mikael Rhodes, was born sleeping and welcomed into heaven on October 15, 2025. Though his time on earth was brief, his presence was deeply felt and cherished from the moment he was first dreamed of.

His name, August, meaning “majestic and worthy of honor,” and David, meaning “beloved,” perfectly reflects how he is remembered—honored in heaven and deeply loved here on earth.

August was prayed for, hoped for, and carried with great love in every heartbeat of his parents. In his silent arrival, he taught us the depth of love, the weight of longing, and the sacred beauty of a soul so pure that he was called home before ever taking a breath.

He is cherished not only by his parents, but also by his loving grandparents, Michael and Kelly Carver of Huntington, Texas, and Wayne and Rachel Rhodes of Lufkin, Texas; his Aunt Aaralynn Carver of Lufkin, Texas; his Uncle Cayson Carver of Huntington, Texas; and his Uncle Elijiah Garrett and spouse Kaylee Garrett of Lufkin, Texas.

He is also dearly loved by his great-grandparents: Deborah Shade of Huntington, Texas; John and Mary Carver of Huntington, Texas; Wayne and Angie Rhodes of Huntington, Texas; and Nelda Morgan of Huntington, Texas, along with numerous other family members and friends who longed for his arrival and will forever hold his memory close.

We take comfort in knowing that August rests safely in the arms of Jesus, surrounded by eternal light, love, and peace. Even without taking a breath, he changed our lives forever; his legacy lives on in the love we carry for him.

A private service will be held to honor August’s precious life and the joy he brought simply by being.
