Funeral services for Ashly Nicole Nelson, 38 of Zavalla will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Jackson Colwell and Pastor Larry Innerarity officiating. Interment will follow in Zavalla Cemetery.

Ashly was born November 15, 1984 in Nacogdoches, Texas, and died Saturday, September 30, 2023 in a Houston hospital. She was a lifetime resident of Zavalla and worked as a Nurses Aide. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughters, Kelsey Rutland of Baytown and Haily Nelson of Zavalla; sons, Ryder Nelson and Trevin Nelson, both of Zavalla; granddaughter, Hadley Rutland of Baytown; parents, Tammy (Russell) and Charles Laroux of Zavalla; biological father and stepmother, Timmy and Liz Wimberley of Broaddus; sister, Cissy Marie Wimberley of Broaddus; brother, Wyatt Wimberley of Broaddus; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jason Dallas Wimberley; father of her children, Keith Allen Nelson; paternal grandfathers, Kenneth Massey and Jay Wimberley; paternal grandmother, Elouise Wimberley; maternal grandfather, Raymond Russell; and maternal grandmother, Ruth Carrico.

Pallbearers will be Randall Massey, Steven Massey, Bobby Davis, Omen Martin, Chris Martin, Ryder Nelson, and Trevin Nelson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Flint Nelson, Shayne McHale, Ashley Moultrie, and Colton Atwood.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
