Arvis Jean Blake

Graveside services for Arvis Jean Blake, 87, of Lufkin will be held Friday, August 5, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Fielder Memorial Cemetery with Brother David Landrum officiating.

Mrs. Blake was born November 3, 1934 in Shelby County, Texas to the late Alice Gertrude (Page) and James Hollin Mitchell, and died Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at her home in Lufkin.

Mrs. Blake was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. She was a devoted wife of 68 years, and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was most happy surrounded by her family…they brought her so much joy. Mrs. Blake was a member of the Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son, Bennis Dean Blake and wife Doris of Lufkin; daughter, Berlene McCoy and husband Steve of Lufkin; grandsons, Landon McCoy and wife Kim, Scot Foxworth and wife Sara, all of Lufkin; granddaughter, Hollyn Griffith and husband Mark of Virginia; six great-grandchildren; special friend and caregiver, Rebecca Vance; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bennis Berlon Blake; five sisters; and two brothers.
