Archie Ronald "Ronnie" Casburn

Funeral services for Archie Ronald “Ronnie” Casburn, 75, of Diboll will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Simon Purvis officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. Casburn was born March 6, 1942 in Dacus, Texas to the late Joyce (Perry) and Archie Casburn, and died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in a Houston hospital.

Formerly of Montgomery, Texas, Mr. Casburn had resided in Diboll since 1980. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969, in Vietnam and in the 37th Field Artillery Regiment in Germany. He was the General Manager for G.P. Bourrous Trucking Company. Mr. Casburn had an extensive rodeo life but particularly enjoyed supporting and coaching Bridget and Lucchesse in barrel racing. Lucchesse and Pa raised Longhorn cattle which are now part of the Fort Worth Longhorn Stockyards. Mr. Casburn was an avid RV’er and was particularly fond of Big Bend. He was known to take meticulous care of everything he owned or used. He had a servant’s heart and the needs of others came first. Mr. Casburn was a member and greeter of Word of Life Church.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah (Bourrous) Casburn of Diboll; daughters and sons-in-law, Bridget and Jason Tobias of Diboll and Tara and Fred Smith of Huntsville; granddaughters and spouses, Lucchesse “Luc” Tobias of Diboll, Candice and Blake Pavlock of Richards, and Constance and Jake Kelley of Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Tyler Muhle, Landyn Muhle, Rylee Kelley, all of Montgomery, and Adeline Pavlock of Richards; brothers and sisters-in-law, Perry and Velma Casburn of Utopia and Dean and Diane Casburn of Montgomery; father-in-law, G.P. “Jerry” Bourrous of Pollok; sister-in-law, Lucretia Bourrous of Pollok; nieces, Nicole Garcia and husband Britt, Jerri D. Bourrous, Jordan Garcia, and Jade Garcia, all of Pollok; nephew, Bo Casburn and wife Cindy; and a number of other nieces, nephews and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Casburn Darden; nephew, Pokey Casburn; and mother-in-law, Ella Mae (Gilbert) Bourrous.

Pallbearers will be Hulen Squyres, Bob Flournoy, Rick Carrell, Jimmy Crum, Fred Robbins, and Britt Garcia.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Friends of the Fort Worth Herd, 131A East Exchange Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76164 (specify for the care of Rusty or Barney).

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the services.
