Annie Sterling

Funeral services for Annie Sterling, 84, of Comfort, Texas will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Solid Rock Family Church, 3476 State Highway 103 W, in Lufkin, Texas with Brother Richard Owen officiating. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the service. A private burial will be held in Comfort Cemetery in Comfort, Texas.

Aveline “Annie” Ruth Flach was born March 11, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Heda Flach (Schladoer) and Elvin Flach, both originally from Comfort. Annie passed away Friday, March 20, 2026 in Comfort.

Annie attended South San Antonio High School where she loved playing in the band. Not long after graduating in 1960, she met the love of her life, Danny Sterling, while he was stationed at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio. After getting married in 1964, they lived in various locations in Texas before settling in Morenci, Arizona in 1972 where they raised three boys. Eventually, they made their way to Henderson, Nevada where Annie worked in child development. After Danny retired from the Bureau of Reclamation at Hoover Dam, they made their way back to Texas where they built their retirement home on land that had been in Annie’s family for many years.

Survivors include her loving and loyal husband of 62 years, Danny Sterling; son and daughter-in-law, Keven and Kristie Sterling; son, Kent “Derek” Sterling; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle “Dusty” and Claudine Sterling; grandchildren, Angela, Aaron, Kacie, Rachelle, Leah, Leighton, Belle and Allyson Sterling; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Bourn and Colton Sterling; and brother, Jerry Flach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Heda Flach.
