Alvis Glenn Crain

Funeral services for Alvis Glenn Crain, 86, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jacob Fitzgerald and Brother Charles M. Roberts officiating. Graveside services under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Alvis Crain was the first child born to Amy Faye (James) Crain and Calvin Crain December 13, 1937 in Lufkin, Texas. He passed away Monday October 21, 2024 at CHI ICU in Lufkin, under the care of Hospice In The Pines.

Alvis was a very loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He loved his family very much. He was always willing to help anyone do anything he could. If you needed a tool, he probably had it. He would fix whatever was broken.

He was a graduate of Lufkin High School Class of 1958. He joined the Texas National Guard and served for three years. He worked at the Papermill and retired on December 31, 1999 after 39 years of employment. He loved to hunt, fish, travel, eat, and be with family and friends. He was a dedicated Noble of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. and Scottish Rite Shriners for 50 years. He loved to drive his firetruck in the parades for the children to see. He was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church for 50 plus years.

He is survived by his daughters, Sherrie Lynn Warren of Whitehouse, Karon Renee Albrecht and husband Richard Samuel Albrecht, Jr. of Lufkin, Alicia Gayle Clarady and husband Stephen Wayne Clarady of Hudson; grandchildren and spouses, Misty Busby, Mindy and Johnathan Ritch, Cara and Terry Pilkington, Dustin Anderson, Alicia and Cory Woodson, Samuel Glenn Albrecht, Jarod Clarady, Kyle Clarady; great-grandchildren, Carson, Dylan, Gracie, Lexie, Madalyn, Cortlyn, Anthony, Cole, Morgan, Katelynn, Kelcyn; sister-in-law, Doris Marie Hardin of Lafayette, Louisiana; and numerous other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Lou (Farris) Crain; sister, Carolyn Ann Crain; six brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and son-in-law, John Tolbert Warren.

Pallbearers will be Richard Albrecht, Jr., Stephen Clarady, Dustin Anderson, Jarod Clarady, Sam Albrecht, Johnathan Ritch, Terry Pilkington, Carson Ritch, and Dylan Ritch.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite Shriners.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Donor Development Office, 815 Market Street, Galveston, Texas 77550.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00  to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday October 23, 2024 at the funeral home.
