Alton Truett Barley

Funeral services for Alton Truett Barley, 93, of Huntington will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin. Graveside services with military honors from the U.S. Marine Corps and masonic rites under the auspices of the Homer Masonic Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M. will follow at Berry Cemetery.

Mr. Barley was born March 20, 1930 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Lillie Julia (Haley) and Robert Edward Lee Barley, and died Thursday, February 15, 2024 at his residence.

Formerly of Pasadena, Mr. Barley had resided in Huntington for 32 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Occidental Chemical following 37 years of employment. Mr. Barley enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, bowling, and gardening. He was a mason for 60 years and was a member of the Homer Masonic Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M. Mr. Barley was a member of Huntington First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Hayden and Jeanette Barley of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jimmy Fikaris of Houston; son, Steve Barley of LaPorte; granddaughter, Katie Fikaris; great-grandchildren, Keaton Pullen and Kynzlee Pullen; sisters-in-law, Ruth Watlington of Snow, Oklahoma and Betty Douthitt of Palestine; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Lou Barley; and 12 siblings and their spouses.

Pallbearers will be Eric Russell, Alton Inman, Tom Hilton, Stephen Hilton, Mike Knox, and Landon Chunn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keaton Pullen, Jody Watlington, Joe Watlington, Chris Barley, and Brandon Russell.

The family wants to thank the staff of Affinity Hospice for their caring for our loved one.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
