Alex John

Funeral services for Alex John, 87, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Todd Core officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. John was born May 9, 1937 in Elton, Louisiana to the late Eltie (Obe) and Adam John, and died Sunday, December 8, 2024 at CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial in Lufkin.

Mr. John had resided in the Lufkin area most of his adult life. He was employed at Temple Industries and Texas Foundries where he retired in 1983. Mr. John attended church at Harmony Hill Baptist Church in Lufkin.

Survivors include his stepson, Danny Brooks of Lufkin; and stepdaughter, Carolyn Doughty and husband Roger of Phoenix, Arizona. He is beloved by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris John; parents, Adam and Eltie John; brothers, Herbert John and Austin John; three sisters, Bessie John, Eula Fruge, and Wilda Fusillier; stepson, Jimmy Brooks; and stepdaughter, Linda Price.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Walker, Kevin Sickey, David Sickey, Gordon Poncho, Erick Esteves, and Daniel Swofford.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roderick John and Ricky John.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon prior to the services.
