Richard L. Reddy

Memorial services for Richard L. Reddy, 88, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. in the PineCrest Retirement Community Chapel with Reverend John Bingham and Dr. Brian Wiggins officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Reddy was born April 3, 1929 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Lula Wanda (Conger) and Louis Andrew Reddy, and died Sunday, October 1, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Reddy was a Veteran serving in the United States Marine Corp. He had resided in Lufkin for the past 8 years and previously lived in Alabama for twenty years. He retired as a Supervisor for First Energy in Ohio after 43 years of service. He and his wife, Iris, helped start St. Andrews By the Sea Church in Alabama and are still Charter Members. He was an avid golfer with many Club-Pro trophies from various courses. He was a member of the United States Power Squadron for 25 years and taught safe boating. He was also a member of the Geodetic Marker Association and received a trophy for 10 years of service. Mr. Reddy was a Geneologist and was a member of the Angelina County Geneological Society. He enjoyed telling jokes and he and his wife enjoyed playing in the PineCrest Kitchen Band for four years. He was involved with numerous activities at PineCrest and was President of the Homeowners Association for three years and Treasurer for four years, as well as actively involved with the chapel there.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Iris Reddy of Lufkin; son, Steven Alan Reddy and wife Cindy of League City; granddaughter, Shelby Gordon and husband Anson and Shannon Rose and husband Jereomy; great-grandsons, Ethan and Dylan Gordon; and great-granddaughters, Sadie and Emilee Rose.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Bryan Alexander Reddy in 1979.
