Ernest O. Boyett

Funeral services for Ernest Osro Boyett, 72, of Huntington will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Andrew Dow, Jerry Springfield, and Thomas Riley officiating. Interment will follow in the Jonesville Cemetery.

Mr. Boyett was born July 8, 1945 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Elsie (Vinson) and Robert K. Boyett, Sr., and died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in a local hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mr. Boyett had resided in Huntington most of his life. He was the former Head of the Science Department at Lufkin High School and retired after 45 years of service. He was also a former member of the Huntington ISD School Board, a member of the Board of Directors of the McMullen Memorial Library, and an avid and skilled wood worker. He was a member of Huntington Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Boyett of Huntington; son, Brian Boyett and wife Kristyn of Newnan, Georgia; daughter, Aleisha Zavala and husband Stanley of Friendswood; grandchildren, Nathan Zavala, Cassidy Zavala, Reilly Boyett and Jocelyn Boyett; brother, Robert K. Boyett, Jr. and wife Cora of Livingston; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Archie Brown, Truitt Eubank, Steve Thornton, Dave Duren, Tyler Springfield, and Glenn Jacobs.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Zavala, Reilly Boyett, Gary Thornton, Blake Thornton, Clay Thornton, Delton Smith and Gary Rice.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
