Funeral services for Ann Dobbs, 66, of Diboll will be held Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles Roberts officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the McKnight Cemetery in Cushing. Mrs. Dobbs was born December 31, 1950 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Betty M. (Baker) and the late Odell L. Nichols, and died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Dobbs had resided in this area all of her life. She retired from teaching at Trout Elementary for 13-14 years. She also taught at Slack Elementary for 10-12 years, in Central for 9-10 years, and also in Alto. She was a devoted teacher, passionate in her desire to help all her students, many of whom would return years later and remember her fondly as one of their favorite teachers. She was a loving wife and mother, always wanting happiness and success for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her sons participate in sports and activities when they were growing up and was never more proud of the men they became. Mrs. Dobbs was an extraordinary piano player. She was a big Lufkin Panther fan and a Texan fan. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Gary Dobbs of Diboll; sons, Stephen Dobbs and wife Amanda of Mineola and Cy Dobbs of Lufkin; mother, Betty M. Nichols of Cushing; sister, Shelia Sparks and husband Jimmy of Appleby; grandchildren, Riley Dobbs and Kara Dobbs, both of Henderson, and Chad Pierce of Mineola; sister-in-law, Jan Barton and husband Cal of Tyler; mother-in-law, Lorena Dobbs of Tyler; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father; sister, Barbara Luke; father-in-law, T. C. Dobbs, Jr.; and Uncle Bobby Joe Nichols. Pallbearers will be Stephen Dobbs, Cy Dobbs, Lance Redd, John Foley, Colby Amerine, and Jereme Martin.
