Carlton W. "Sonny" Bridges

Graveside services for Carlton W. “Sonny” Bridges, 72, of Plantersville, formerly of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery with Brother Roger Fancher officiating.

Mr. Bridges was born April 11, 1945 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Louise (Martin) and Glenn Carlton Bridges, and died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at his residence. He had resided in Plantersville for 27 years and was an architect. Mr. Bridges loved visiting with people, and his passion was cars. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his daughters, Jaleata Ramsey of Corinth, Judeana Marshall of Lufkin, and Jonanna Bridges of Lufkin; sons, Carlton Bridges, Jr. and wife Tina of Zavalla and Jeffrey Bridges of Magnolia; daughter-in-law, Britt Bridges of Plantersville; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Don Bridges and wife Paula of Hudson and Weldon Bridges of Amarillo; sisters, Glenda Goodwin and husband Billy and Ona Gail Click and husband Kenneth, all of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Del Bridges and Liz Bridges, both of Lufkin, Margaret Hudson and Catherine Fuller, both of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn Bridges; son, Scott Wesley Bridges; brothers, Ronnie Bridges and Gary Bridges; father-in-law, Verle McDuffie; mother-in-law, Laura Lowery; and brothers-in-law, John McDuffie, Larry McDuffie, and Bubba McDuffie, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Clint Bridges, Josh Lawrence, Josh Bridges, Gerry Dohn Bridges, Jonathan Click, and Joshua Bengston.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Click, Billy Goodwin, Randy Chumley, and Robert L. Bailey.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.
