Graveside services with military honors for Gerald D. Griffin, 73, of Huntington will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Huntington Oddfellows Cemetery with Brother Cary Modisett officiating.
Mr. Griffin was born September 22, 1943 in Camden, Texas to the late Addie Irene (David) and John Otis Griffin, and died Sunday, August 20, 2017 in Huntington.
Mr. Griffin had resided in Huntington most of his life. He served in the United States Navy as an Aircraft Mechanic and then was an Operating Engineer with the Pipeline Local Union #450 for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his scooter at the river. He liked to garden and he loved watching old western movies.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Griffin of Huntington; daughter, Angela Griffin of Huntington; sister, Mary Nell Taylor of Lufkin; brothers, N. F. “Moe” Griffin and wife Pat of Huntington and George Griffin of Baytown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Wanda Faye Lowe; and brothers, Wendell Griffin and Larry Griffin.
Pallbearers will be Jason McGaughey, Chuck Brooks, Tyler Brooks, Seedy Nevills, Rex Womack, and Mike Bruce.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jr. Grimes, Scott Morehead, Bubba Johnson, Chad Murphy, Brad Colwell, Clay Colwell, and Joe Balusik.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
