Sylvia Ann Greenville Mccreary

Funeral services for Sylvia Ann (Greenville) McCreary, 71, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 12 noon at Parkview Baptist Church with Brother Gary Forrest officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mrs. McCreary was born April 7, 1946 in Galveston, Texas to the late Virginia (Scrafoni) Greenville and James Hilton “Boots” Greenville, and died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in a Lufkin hospice facility.

Mrs. McCreary had resided in Lufkin for over 25 years and prior to that she resided in Houston for 15 years. She worked for Braniff Airlines for 22 years as a Customer Service Agent; and during this time, she travelled far and wide and circled the globe. She loved to play bridge and was a member of four different bridge groups. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #1836. Mrs. McCreary was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of nine years, Alton “Red” McCreary of Lufkin; stepsons, Greg McCreary of Pearland and Ron McCreary of West Virginia; four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Greenville of Lufkin; brothers-in-law, Ben Kok of Lufkin and Robert M. Wheeler, M.D. of Longview; nephews, Robert M. Wheeler, Jr. of Longview, Shane Greenville of Laredo, Ritchey Wheeler of Shenandoah, John Greenville and Chase Greenville, both of Houston; two special cousins, Camille Richards and Linda Rupert; and many other cousins and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James “Spanky” Greenville, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Robert M. Wheeler, Jr., Shane Greenville, Ritchey Wheeler, John Greenville, Chase Greenville, Chris Musick, and Greg McCreary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 412 S. Third St., Lufkin, Texas, 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
