Royal Luther Powell, Sr.

Graveside services with military honors for Royal Luther Powell, Sr., 79, of Pollok will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton with Brother Keith Bickley officiating.

Mr. Powell was born October 11, 1937 in Groveton, Texas to the late Pheaby (Skaines) and Luther Powell, Jr., and died Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Powell served his country in the United States Army. He was retired after 30 years of service at Keystone Valve International. Earlier in his life he enjoyed racing cars. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved mowing his yard.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Powell of Pollok; sons, Royal Powell, Jr. and Brent Powell and wife Amy, all of Houston; grandsons, Justin Powell, Grant Powell, and Dylan Powell, all of Houston; brother, Bill Powell of Lufkin; sister, Betty Seal and husband George of Crockett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Justin Powell, Royal Powell, Jr., Brent Powell, James Penman, Mark Jones, and Bill Powell.
