Billy Charles Gandy

Funeral services for Billy Charles Gandy, 87, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wayne Barth officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery. Mr. Gandy was born March 7, 1930 in Athens, Texas to the late Effie Poole and Willie Edd Gandy, and died Friday, July 7, 2017 in The Joseph House in Lufkin. Mr. Gandy had served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Later he worked at Southland Papermill, as well as a papermill in Snowflake, Arizona, as a Grinderman. Mr. Gandy was the Production Manager over Wood Procurement and retired from Federal Paper Company in Augusta Georgia. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He like being outdoors hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed music and attended First Baptist Church in Broaddus. Survivors include his children, Chari Gandy Riggs and husband JR of Waynesboro, Georgia, Buddy Gandy and wife Garie Lea of Lufkin, Lesa Gandy Bailey and husband Jim of Colleyville, Donnie Gandy and wife Julie of Waynesboro, Georgia; grandchildren, Chris Riggs and wife Selena, Josh Riggs and wife April, Chad Riggs and wife Amy, Lesli Figueiredo and husband Chad, Jake Bailey and wife Lauren, Colby Gandy, and Connor Gandy; great-grandchildren, Addison Claire Riggs, Brynlie Blair Riggs, James Walter Bailey IV, Everett Charles Bailey, and Bailey Elizabeth Figueiredo; siblings, Donald Gandy and wife Elaine of Lufkin, Linda Gandy Hutton of Concord, New Hampshire, and Jo DeLaney and husband MC of Lufkin; and also lots of treasured nieces, nephews, family and a lifetime of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty DeLaney Gandy. Pallbearers will be Jake Bailey, Colby Gandy, Connor Gandy, Michael Shurley, James Smyrl, Jeremy Smyrl, and Warren Smyrl. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Gandy and Glenn Allen. Memorial contributions may be made to The Joseph House, P.O. Box 150554, Lufkin, Texas 75915. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
