Dr. Bill C. Morgan, M.D. was born on June 1, 1927 at Oak Hill near Marshall, Texas. He died of natural causes in his home on June 8, 2015 in Lufkin, Texas. He was joined in death by Lettie Morgan, his wife of 65 years, on September 5, 2016. She passed away on their anniversary. His daughter, Claudia Morgan, also died of natural causes on April 20, 2017 in Lufkin, Texas.

After graduating from Marshall High School, Bill served in the United States Navy in the Pacific region. Upon his return, he attended East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, where he met his wife, Lettie. In 1955, he graduated from Southwest Medical School in Dallas, Texas. As a family physician, he practiced medicine in private practice for over 40 years. He served on staff at Baylor Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital, East Dallas Hospital and Clinic, and Mesquite Community Hospital. He particularly enjoyed obstetrics and treating families. He loved the fact that he delivered babies of some of the babies he had delivered. He received several awards for excellence in patient care. He was a very spiritual person and believed that as a doctor he assisted the healing capacity within each person.

In retirement, he was an avid golfer, winning the North Texas Senior Association tournament twice. Bill loved to relax in drives to the Hill Country of Texas. He was particularly fond of the Kerrville area in the spring. He was awed by mountains. Several family camping trips were taken to mountain ranges in Colorado, Montana, and Canada. In recent years, he and Lettie relocated from Dallas to Lufkin, Texas to be closer to children and grandchildren. He will always be loved and remembered for his compassion, skill, generosity, and humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howeth and Effie Morgan of Marshall, Texas; his son, Casey Morgan of Marshall, Texas; brother, Marion Morgan of Marshall, Texas; son-in-law, Mark Sutton of Pollok, Texas and beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins of Marshall, Texas.
