Leeland Wayne Temple

Funeral services for Leeland Wayne Temple, 78, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother William Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery. Mr. Temple was born October 7, 1938 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Beatrice (Shoemaker) and Burnise Temple, and died Monday, June 5, 2017 in a local nursing home Mr. Temple had resided in the Lufkin area most of his life. He served in the United States Army and worked in Maintenance for Champion Papermill. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a member of the Wallace Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Helen Temple of Lufkin; son, Randy Temple of San Antonio; daughter, Rebecca Temple of Spurger; stepdaughter, Cheryl Bomar and husband Kenneth of Diboll; stepsons, Dean Markle, Ronnie Markle, and Terry Markle; granddaughters, Crystle Temple Toler and husband Garrett Toler and Desirae Temple, both of Huntington; grandsons, DeWayne Temple of Spurger and Tyler Markle and wife Nicole of Diboll; great-granddaughters, Destiny Rogers, Jesie Rogers, both of Huntington, and Hayden Markle of Diboll; great-grandson, Jason Markle of Diboll; sisters, Elaine Turner and husband Walter, Liz Swor, and Mary Henderson, all of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Deanna Temple of Dickinson and Billie Sue Temple of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Powell Temple, Gaston Temple, and Bill Temple. Pallbearers will be Gary Temple, Stanley Temple, DeWayne Temple, Kenneth Bomar, Tyler Markle, and Jimmy Childers. Memorial contributions may be made to Wallace Chapel Baptist Church, 103 Brooks Hendry Road, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
