Funeral services for Dois Harvey Rayburn, 90, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mark Forrest and Brother Steve Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in San Augustine. Mrs. Rayburn was born February 17, 1927 in San Augustine, Texas to the late Willie (McKenzie) and Edgar Harvey, and died Friday, May 26, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Rayburn had resided in Lufkin for 55 years. She was a cashier and worked in sales for 10 years before retiring from Timberland Discount Pharmacy. She was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cared deeply for her family. She was a Volunteer Grandparent at Burly and Slack Elementary and will be fondly remembered by her students as “Granny”, and missed dearly. Mrs. Rayburn enjoyed cooking and was known for her dumplings, chocolate pies and honey cakes. She was a Christian who loved her Lord foremost. She had been a member of Fuller Springs Missionary Baptist Church since 1953. Survivors include her sons, Hughlen Rayburn and wife Barbara of Lufkin, Kaylon Ray Rayburn and wife Leticia of Eagle Pass, and Scott Rayburn of Lufkin; daughter, LaVonda Thigpen and husband Brian of Lufkin; grandchildren, Travis Rayburn and wife Amy, Tracie Leigh Henderson and husband Josh, Jason Hugh Rayburn and wife Ginger, Eric Ray Rayburn and wife Danielle, Tyler Rayburn and wife Kelly, Katy Headley and husband Chris, Sarah Rayburn and Dakota, Lauren Oakley and husband James, Samantha Duran and husband Adrian, and Mario Morales; great-grandchildren, Jackson Rayburn, Garrett Rayburn, Abby Rayburn, Wyatt Rayburn, Bryce Rayburn, Savannah Rayburn, Miranda Albright, Tiffany Williams, Greyson Leblanc, Gavin Headley, Brayden Heath, and Addie Marie; great-great-grandchildren, Taisha, Jacob and Landon; brothers-in-law, Burnis Rayburn and wife Sarah of Highland, Byron Walton and wife Rose of Houston; sister-in-law, Rosemary Rayburn of Pasadena; niece, Bessie Eberland of San Augustine; cousin, Mary Runnels of Houston; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006, Kay Rayburn; daughter-in-law, Sandra Rayburn, grandson, Colton Rayburn, numerous brothers and sisters and other extended family members. Pallbearers will be Matt Rayburn, Chad Richey, Charles Rayburn, Glenn Harvey, James Harvey, Steve Harvey, Terry Harvey, Timothy Wade, Chris Rayburn, and David Rayburn. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorial contributions may be made to Fuller Springs Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1341, Lufkin, Texas 75902. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
