Graveside services for Gerald V. “Gerry” Ward, 64, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester with Brother Richard Owens officiating.
Mr. Ward was born August 3, 1952 in Corning, New York to the late Maureen Elaine (Daggett) Ward Healy and Ray Eddie Ward, Sr. and died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in Nacogdoches.
Mr. Ward had resided in Lufkin for 40 years. He retired from Abitibi Paper Mill after 23 years of employment and then worked 10 years for Walmart. Mr. Ward loved motorcycling and enjoyed making jewelry. His grandchildren were his joy. He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful storyteller. He never met a stranger and had a genuine love for people. Mr. Ward was a Christian.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Linda Ward of Lufkin; daughter, Jenna Harper and husband Steven of Lufkin; son, Jason Scott Ward of Beaumont; grandchildren, Michael Millard and Nicholas Millard, both of Lufkin; brother, Stephen Michael Ward and wife Dinah of Indian Land, North Carolina; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Zion Salvalto; and brother, Ray Eddie “Butch” Ward, Jr.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.
