Funeral services for Joyce Russell McDaniel, 75, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Joe Stanley and Brother Josh Reneau officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery. Mrs. McDaniel was born December 4, 1941 in the Rocky Hill Community of Angelina County, Texas to the late L.V. (Burns) and Grady Hooker, and died Saturday, May 13, 2017 in Houston. Mrs. McDaniel had resided in the Lufkin area all of her life. She was a mother and housewife. She loved her family, her friends, and her church family. Mrs. McDaniel was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. She was a long-time member and past President of the Gann Cemetery Association. She was a history buff and travelled all over the country and world, and she especially enjoyed flowers. Survivors include her son, Kelly Russell and wife Janice (Mott) of Pollok; granddaughter, Amanda (Russell) Felhofer and husband John; grandsons, Koty Douglas Russell, and Kolby Dwayne Russell and fiance’ Cierra Adams; great-grandson, John Konner Felhofer; stepchildren, Nathan “Bucky” McDaniel, Mary “Lulu” Burrows, Janie Nunez, LaNell Woltz, and Rodney McDaniel; brother, Douglas Wayne Cook and wife Sandy; sister, Marilyn Lynch and husband Jimmy; brothers, Stephen Hooker and Richard Hooker; nephew, Jerry Cook and wife Leslie; nieces, Donna Joyce Mathis and husband Kirk, Stacey Thompson, and Brittiany Lynch; aunt and special friend, Ursula Burns; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Grady Hooker; mother and dad, L.V. and Brittian “Salty” Cook; husbands, Kelly Douglas Russell and Rebert “Mac” McDaniel; daughters, Kristina Russell and Karen Russell; and nephew, Michael “Bubba” Thompson. Pallbearers will be Carol Naron, Jr., Daniel Whitley, Randy Matthews, Wayne Rice, Joe Fortenberry, and Jesse Nash. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Pentecostal Church, New Church Building Fund, 3200 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901 or the Winnie Berry Animal Shelter, P. O. Box 472, Lufkin, Texas 75902. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
