Nell Thompson Cox

Graveside services for Nell Thompson Cox, 91, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gilbert Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Michael Harris, Jr. officiating.

Mrs. Cox was born October 3, 1925 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Emma (Vansau) and Lee R. Thompson, and died Sunday, April 30, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Cox had resided in Lufkin all of her life. She loved her family and she enjoyed quilting and sewing. She loved sports and was a Cowboys and Rangers fan. She was a member of the Homer First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son, Greg Cox and wife Susan of San Augustine; daughter-in-law, Marcia Waller of Lufkin; grandchildren, John Cox and wife Lauren of Lufkin, Cathy Buckner and husband Oscar of Huntington, Carrie Johnson and husband Christopher of Huntington; and Cody Cox and wife Rachel of Wimberley; great-grandchildren, Haleigh Reed of Huntington, Nicholas Moore of College Station, Connor Cox of Lufkin, and Matti Cox of Wimberley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse Cox; and son, Clay Cox.
