Mary Ellen Luce

Funeral services for Mary Ellen Luce, 87, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Joe Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in Gann Cemetery.

Mrs. Luce was born December 22, 1929 in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Mattie L. (Tucker) and E.V. Allen. She died Thursday, April 27, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Luce had been employed at the Lufkin State School as a seamstress. She was also a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Luce loved to cook, especially pies, and doing all kinds of crafts such as sewing, painting, embroidering, and ceramics. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church and had resided in Lufkin all her life.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Randal and Donna Luce, Kathy and Ronald Risenhoover, and Darrell and Cristy Luce; her daughter-in-law, Teresa Luce; her grandchildren and their spouses, Angie and Wade Modisette, Brandy and Daniel Nabors, Scott and Naomi Luce, Casey Lerma, Jessica and David Talley, Julia Risenhoover, Jason Risenhoover, Todd and Mellisa Luce, Amber Crain, Garrett Galloway, and Casey and Lori Galloway; twelve great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Ray and Nancy Allen; sister, Annie Ruth Tucker; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ada and Simon Womack, Barbara and J.L. Ashby, Linda and Don Grigsby, and Mariam Williams; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Luce was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years, Bill Luce; son, Gary Luce; grandchildren, Jared Luce and Lisa Luce; daughter-in-law, Diane Luce; brother and sister-in-law, Alton and Joyce Allen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mable and Hearn Matthews, Bea and Paul Bourrous; brothers-in-law, Bobby Tucker, Donald Luce, and Rev. Hardie Luce; and sisters-in-law, Glennie Ray Luce and Neta Pate.

Pallbearers will be Bob Tucker, Wade Modisette, Daniel Nabors, David Talley, Jesse Nash, Larry Green, Mike Doss, and James Headrick.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Pentecostal Church, 3200 South Medford Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.
