Betty Gean Mcdaniel

Funeral services for Betty Gean McDaniel, 84, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Harmony Hill Baptist Church with Dr. John W. Greene and Brother Brad Forrest officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.

Mrs. McDaniel was born June 10, 1932 in Roswell, New Mexico to the late Dola and Abe Qualls, and died Saturday, April 22, 2017 in a local hospice facility, Hospice in the Pines.

Mrs. McDaniel had resided in Lufkin for 42 years. She took care of children in her home and cared for them as her own. She was known as “Ms. Mc” or “Granny Mc” by the many children she cared for. She was a member of Lancewood Baptist Church where she faithfully served in the nursery. When she could no longer drive, her children took her to Harmony Hill with them.

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Pierce and husband Greg of Hudson, Peggy Bonney and husband Billy of Apple Springs, and Pam Kirtley of Lufkin; son, Allen McDaniel and wife Trinna of Hudson; grandchildren, Cody Pierce and wife Shay of Huntington, Amanda Pierce of Lufkin, Jessica Eichenberger and husband Sam of Denton, Rachel Bonney of Apple Springs, Kristi Bohall and husband Kalob of Lufkin, Travis Kirtley and wife Meagan of Hudson, Sr. Staff Sergeant Zachery McDaniel of the United States Air Force of Washington D.C., Chloe McDaniel of San Antonio, Tiffany Tores and husband Wes of Hudson, and Cassie Galloway of Groveton; great-grandchildren, Cash, Paisley, Emma, Jakob, Jada, Rylan, McKenzie, Josh, and Emberly; sister, Mary Teague of Roswell, New Mexico, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband whom she remained faithful to always, W. Lewis McDaniel; her twin brother, two sisters, and one brother.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Harmony Hill Baptist Church.
