Evelyn Sue (Cates) Thrailkill

Funeral services for Evelyn Sue (Cates) Thrailkill, 88, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Carpenter’s Way Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Wilke officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mrs. Thrailkill was born September 11, 1928 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Lennie (Guffey) and Wallace Madison Cates, and died Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Marshall.

Mrs. Thrailkill resided in Angelina County most of her life. She retired from Champion Paper Mill where she worked in Human Resources. Mrs. Thrailkill enjoyed gardening and yardwork, traveling, and camping. She loved her church, Carpenter’s Way Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Jim and Judy Alexander of Lufkin, Tim and Nevella Alexander of Tyler, Cindy and Mike Martinez of Marshall, and Roy and Allison King of Lake Fork; grandchildren, Jeri, Denise, Tamara, Heather, Mandy, Blake, Micah, Jennifer, Terah, Kris, Mike, and David; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Roy Dean and Carolyn Cates of Lufkin; brother-in-law, Jake Lyon of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Thrailkill, daughter, Melinda Alexander; grandson, Blake Alexander; and sister, Sara Lyon.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
