Mary Katherine "Kathie" Winthrop Carrier

Funeral services for Mary Katherine “Kathie” Winthrop Carrier, 62, of Diboll will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Karen Norton officiating. Interment will follow in the Rocky Springs/Old Center Cemetery. Mrs. Carrier was born June 26, 1954 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Mary Elizabeth (Parker) and Joe Kenneth Winthrop, and died Friday, March 31, 2017 in a local hospital. Mrs. Carrier had resided in Lufkin most of her life. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to read and decorate her house. She worked briefly outside the home as the Jewelry Department Manager at Walmart, but her main priority was being the caretaker of her family, her pride and joy. Her children remember her as being a most loving, devoted mother to them. She was loved dearly by all her family and will be dearly missed. Mrs. Carrier was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband for 44 years and the love of her life, Alton G. Carrier of Diboll; daughters, Pamela Leanne Ayres and Cheryl Deanne Thornton, both of Lufkin; grandchildren, Colby Thornton, Katie Thornton, Pamela “Beth” Thornton, Robin Thornton, and Brooke Ayres; sister, Pat Havard and husband Randall of Huntington; brother, Kenneth Winthrop and wife Faith of Lufkin; aunt, Wanda Jean Dennis and husband Bobby of Lufkin; uncle, Arthur Winthrop and wife Barbara of Crystal Beach; mother-in-law, Patricia Carrier Spinks of Corrigan, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lisa Gail Luedke; brother, Joe Douglas Winthrop; sister-in-law, Delores Winthrop; and son-in-law, Greg Thornton.  Pallbearers will be Colby Thornton, Eric Winthrop, Chris Thornton, Blake Davis, Zachery Goldberg, and Cedric Spears, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenneth Winthrop and Douglas Reeves. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 8111 N. Stadium Drive, Suite 100, Houston, Texas, 77054. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
