Funeral services for Thelma D. Herrick, 75, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park Phase II Mausoleum. Mrs. Herrick was born March 7, 1942 in Orange County, Texas to the late Nettie Louisa (White) and Thomas Carroll Trapp, and died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in a local hospital. Mrs. Herrick had resided in Lufkin for most of her life. She retired as a Deputy Clerk for Angelina County after more than 33 years of service. She was a member of the Daylily Club in Lufkin and enjoyed working in her garden with her lilies. She even named each one! She loved to read and watch her soap operas. She also liked to fish, hunt and travel. Family came first to Mrs. Herrick and she had a very giving heart. She collected owls and had a vast collection from all over the world. She also enjoyed collecting photos of courthouses she visited in her travels. Mrs. Herrick was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Walton and husband Cliff and Dana Tillery, all of Lufkin; son, Thomas O’Guin and wife Anita of Pollok; stepdaughter, Wanda Burns of Lufkin; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob Trapp and wife Sue of Humble, and Calvin Trapp and wife Shirley of Waller; special friend of the family, Judy Carter of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George F. Herrick, Jr. in 2007; brother, Burt Trapp; and granddaughter, Makayla Wise. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Walton, Aaron Walton, Randy Crow, Thomas Henry O’Guin, Chance Gray, and Bill O’Guin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas, 75904.
