Joe Douglas Winthrop, 65, of Lufkin died Saturday, March 25, 2017 in a local hospital. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Winthrop was born July 10, 1951 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Mary Elizabeth (Parker) and Joe Kenneth Winthrop. He was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and was a carpenter. Mr. Winthrop was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed riding motorcycles and hunting. He was a car enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife, Salena Winthrop of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Tracy Rook of Huntington; son, Joe Winthrop of Lufkin; grandson, Parker Winthrop of Lufkin; granddaughter, Lillian Claire “Lilly” Rook of Huntington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Randall Havard of Huntington, Kathie and Alton Carrier of Diboll; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Faith Winthrop of Lufkin; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon Carson of Kerrville, Susie and Dr. James Bruce of Wimberley, and Sonia Modisette of Huntington; aunt and uncle, Wanda Jean and Bobby Dennis of Lufkin; uncle and aunt, Arthur and Barbara Winthrop of Crystal Beach; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lisa Gail Luedke; and parents-in-law, Joan (Crumpler) and W.T. "Tee" Parker, Jr.
