William E. "Bill" Doss

Memorial services for William E. “Bill” Doss, 78, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Bald Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Fancher and Chaplain Alex Montilla officiating. Private interment was in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Doss was born November 20, 1938 in Stamford, Texas, the son of the late Ada Christine (Ellis) and Marvin Rea Doss. He died Sunday, March 19, 2017 in a Lufkin hospice facility.

Mr. Doss had lived in Lufkin most of his life. He owned and operated two small grocery businesses for several years, and was later employed by and retired from Lufkin Industries. He was a member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Bald Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joan (Mace) Doss of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Randal and Jeannie Doss of Lufkin; son, Stuart Doss of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Dede and Steve Kolb of Lufkin; grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie (Doss) and Jason Pierson, Heather (Doss) and Judd Williamson, Aaron and Ashley Doss, Ashley (Doss) and Dustin DuPree, Amanda Doss, Anthony Doss, and Diana Kolb; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Charles Petty and wife Bobby of Tyler; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Doss was preceded in death by his sister, Denver Maxine (Doss) Petty.
