Chris "Buck" Fitzgerald

Funeral services for Chris “Buck” Fitzgerald, 62, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles M. Roberts and Brother Jacob Fitzgerald officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in San Augustine County.

Mr. Fitzgerald was born May 3, 1954 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Elizabeth (Stewart) and Jackson Maston Fitzgerald, and died Monday, March 20, 2017 in Lufkin.

Mr. Fitzgerald received his Bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences Degree in 1999 from Stephen F. Austin State University. He began serving in the United States Navy in May 1972, and after 22 years, he retired as a Lieutenant in July 1994. During this time, he served on various Naval vessels and duty stations including the USS Alacrity, USS Clark, USS Koelsch, USS Don Galloway, CVN America, CVN Dwight D. Eisenhower, VA-46 Air Squadron, Subic Bay, Phillipines, PSD Pensacola, Florida, PSD Milton, Florida, and U.S. Naval Reserve Center, Coconut Grove, Florida. After being stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, he returned to Lufkin, where he also retired from Angelina County as the Landfill Manager. Mr. Fitzgerald was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Debbie Fitzgerald of Lufkin; daughters, Melissa Fitzgerald Medling of New Johnsonville, Tennessee, and Caitlin Fitzgerald of Victoria; son, Casey Fitzgerald of Temple; grandchildren, Stone Fitzgerald and Terra Medling, both of New Johnsonville, Tennessee; brothers, Billy Fitzgerald and wife Pam, and Jimmy Fitzgerald and wife Kathy, all of Lufkin; sisters, Della Lumpkin and husband Bill, Janette Wilkinson and husband Wick, and Mittie Mills, all of Lufkin, and Kathryn Judd and husband Mitch of Tyler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald and Johnnie Glover of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Pam Clark of Lufkin; brother-in-law, Faral Glover and wife Jan of Sugarland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Calvin “Dinky” Fitzgerald; sister, Jo Ann Wisbey; and brother-in-law, Raymond Clark.

Pallbearers will be Billy Lumpkin, Johnny Mills, Wade Fitzgerald, Matthew Wilkinson, Jacob Fitzgerald, and Raymond Wisbey.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Wheeler, Chuck Brooks, Chad Richey, and co-workers at Angelina County Waste Management Center.
