Helen "Nan" Weaver Collins

Funeral services for Helen “Nan” Weaver Collins, 90, of Huntington will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Pastor Brian Williams and Pastor James O. Forrest officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Helen passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in a local hospital. She was born August 8, 1926 in Brookeland, Texas to the late Barney and Margaret (Clark) Weaver. She married A.L. Collins January 10, 1945. Helen and A.L. were married 60 years, until A.L.’s death in 2005.

Everyone who knew Helen loved her. She will forever be remembered for her laughter and love of people. Above all, she was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, and spoke of her family with pride to anyone willing to listen. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

Helen is survived by those she cherished and loved: her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Glenn Grissett; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lisa and Derek Flournoy; and great-grandchildren, Alyx Flournoy and Grant Flournoy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.L. Collins; parents, Barney and Margaret Weaver; brother, Joe Lowe; and twin sister, Ellen Dugat.

Pallbearers will be Dean McMullen, Kim Reynolds, Billy Page, Brandell Tolbert, Tony Gullo, and Charles Whisenant.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Griffin, Michael Dean McMullen, Richard Towry, and Grant Flournoy.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Kyle Krohn and Presley Whitley for their loving care and attention.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
