Rita McCollum Cambiano, age 58, of Diboll, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at her residence. Rita was born in Lufkin, Texas on July 14, 1958. She is the daughter of the late Henry, Jr. and Earlene McCollum. She was an avid watcher of the Walking Dead and Survivor TV shows. She was the manager at Bill’s Dollar Store, a place that she dearly loved. Rita was disabled at the time of her passing, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Rita is survived by her three children: Jason Diets and wife Charmin of Diboll, Jeffery Diets and companion Chiva Cleaver of Cleveland, Texas, and Amanda Swank and husband Mike of Diboll; her sisters and their spouses, Terri and Lester McAdams of Groveton, Christy and Ricky Bailey of Carlisle; her brothers and their spouses, Mark and Donna McCollum of Lufkin, Kevin and Lisa McCollum of Corrigan; thirteen grandchildren, Skyler Diets, Cheyenne Diets, William Voeks, Destiny Diets, Cody Diets, Aeko Diets, Mackenzie Swank, Lyndsey Swank, Wesley Swank, Coy Brown, Brittney Brown, Chance Cleaver, Dustin Cleaver; and two great grandchildren, C.J. Brown and Paisley Brown.
Rita was preceded in death by her sister, Lisa McCollum of Diboll; father and mother, Henry and Earlene McCollum of Diboll; her first husband and father of her three children, Charlie Jesse Diets of Diboll; her late husband, Roger Cambiano of Texas City; and nephew, Bradley Bass of Diboll.
Rita’s last wish was to donate her body to science as a way to help and show compassion for other people.
