Charles Oran Merchant

Funeral services for Charles Oran Merchant, 66, of Huntington will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Wesley Matchett officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Merchant was born September 27, 1950 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Willie Mae (McMullen) and Charles Coleman Merchant, and died Monday, March 13, 2017 in Mexico.

Mr. Merchant served in the U.S. Navy and owned an oil and gas exploration business in Ohio for 40 years. He and his wife currently own Pickers Paradise. He loved collecting antiques and enjoyed riding motorcycles. Mr. Merchant was and always will be Michelle’s guardian angel. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his charm and heart of gold.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Michelle Elizabeth Merchant of Huntington; children and their spouses, Tracy Tope and husband Zane, Joshua Clark and wife Ashley, all of Ohio, Chad Clark of Hawaii, Kesha Beachy and husband Matt, Tyler Parsons and wife Cierra, all of Ohio, and Kelly Hughes-Beetschen of Wisconsin; sister, Medina Sharp and husband Chuck of Huntington; brothers, Thomas Smith and Darrell Smith, both of Huntington; and a number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
